Chainstitch Needles vs Chenille Needles
Chain stitching & chenille are both embroidery techniques that date back to the 5th – 3rd century BC, and became popularized with the invention of the first Cornely Embroidery Machine back in 1856. Where chain stitching is the process of pulling a loop through another loop to form a “chain”, chenille (or moss stitching) involves pulling the loop up from the surface of the material to form groups of raised loops.Chain stitching is generally used for delicate work, whereas moss stitching adds a layer of depth to the design. In both techniques, the needles used are made with a hook instead of a threaded eye, but chenille needles have a short barb.
